Giant Spiked Mandibles Cave Spider Bookmark and Share

Say hello to the Giant Spiked Mandibles Cave Spider, also known as Amblypygid. This amazing creature is from Brazil, and believe it or not, is not dangerous to humans. Well, perhaps physically - I doubt anyone suffering from arachnophobia would call this fellow harmless. The name Amblypygid means "blunt rump" and those long whips are used as probes. These spiders generally travel sideways, with one whip in front probing for food, predators and objects. Undoubtedly, this impressive fellow in a gorgeous black shadow box with glass face will add a certain je ne sais quoi to your decor.

All of the real butterflies and insects used in the framed shadowbox butterfly art have been raised on natural cruelty free tropical farms around the world. These educational farms, aviaries and co-ops provide a real source of income for native people who would otherwise have to sell trees off of their land or raise cattle which are both ecologically disastrous. Tropical insects are important members of these fragile ecosystems. If their natural habitats are allowed to disappear, then they to will vanish forever. Everything possible must be done to preserve them.

This 9 1/2"x 9 1/2" shadow box is made with 99% UV Blocking conservation glass and archival/acid-free materials. This is completely handmade and is double sealed for added protection. Picture hanger included on the back of the frame.
